Insight Arts understands that the current inadequate level of funding for the
arts makes it nearly impossible for long term collaboration among
contemporary artists. This is particularly difficult for artists whose work is dedicated
to social justice. With an eye on nurturing the development of progressive
artistic collaborations, Insight Arts, began the resident ensemble program in
1991. This program provides administrative support and free rehearsal space for
a wide variety of performance ensembles. Resident ensembles are selected and
retained based on the groups displayed commitment to the core values of Insight
Arts. Each resident ensemble elects at least one representative for
nomination to the Insight Arts board of directors. In this way the resident ensembles
collaborate together for the healthy governance of Insight Arts.
