2004

Insight Arts collaborated with The Video Databank and The Betty Rhymer Gallery of the Art Institute of Chicago on OCCURANCES a major exhibition exploring the intersection of video and the performative. The exhibition featured work by more then twenty major individual artists and groups.

Insight executed two major employment programs for youth in the summer of 2004. One resulted in the creation of an original performance exploring issues related to criminal justice and militarization. The second workshop culminated with a performance lecture on contemporary gender issues. IA also offered a free Caribbean Dance Workshop taught by members of Tamboula Ethnic Dance Theater.

Insight Arts welcomed a new project, Ibeji Arts Resource Center to our family of resident ensembles. This project focuses on the cultural, material and physical needs of older adult women. Day long arts workshops are offered on Tuesdays along with special political and art education workshops throughout the year. Ibeji works to connect the creative capacities of older adult women to activism related to issues of race, gender and global economic justice.
