Lani T. Montreal is a Filipina writer, teacher, performer, and self-confessed rabble-rouser in America. She has written several plays, among them, "Looking for Darna," "Sister OutLaw," "Gift of Tongue," and "Alien Citizen," produced onstage and toured by CIRCA and Pintig Cultural Group. Her writings have been published in the U.S. (Pinoy Poetics, Mother Tongues, Garland Review, Bloodstone, Filipinas, etc), Canada (Peace Magazine, Storefront, etc), Philippines, (Tibok, Love Gathers All, Sunday Inquirer Magazine) and in cyberspace (mipoesias.com, Our Own Voice -oovrag.com, etc). She was among the original members of the APIA women's performance collective Mango Tribe. Part of her work at Insight Arts involves building "Broken Wall Theater Initiative," a people-of-color, playwright-driven theater group. When not assisting with IA programming, Lani toils among the ranks of underpaid adjunct professors in Chicago, where she lives with two gray cats, a schnoodle, and a proud-to-be-Puerto Rican partner.
