Maritza obtained her BA in Psychology with a minor in Studio Art from Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas. From 2004 to 2007 she worked as the gallery coordinator for The Laredo Center for the Arts, a non-profit community-based arts organization.
Other arts organizations she contributes to include Hecho en Encinal, a small grassroots organization in the rural community of Encinal, Texas and the AKA Collective, a group of artists and arts educators who work together to develop the exhibition and performance programming at Sound Alternative Space for Contemporary Art, in Laredo, Texas.
She has recently been accepted into the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she will pursue a master of arts in Art Education. Maritza's work includes printmaking, sculpting, and working on experimental short films and music. She has a natural tendency to promote art, creativeness, happiness and peace!
